SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness

Description

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions within the Fitness industry, including working independently in a broad range of settings, such as within fitness centres, gyms, pools, community facilities and in open spaces. Those with this level of competency will be expected to train individual clients, on a one-on-one basis, and may include older clients and children. Persons with this level of competency will have the ability to plan, conduct and evaluate exercise training, provide leadership and guidance to clients and other staff and possibly deal with unpredictable situations.

Entry Requirements

  • Students must be 16 years of age or over.
  • Students are required to successfully complete the Language Literacy and Numeracy test and achieve Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and numeracy skill. Prospective students who have completed year 12 or provide an AQF Certificate III or above in any discipline may be deemed as meeting the LLN entry requirements.
  • Satisfactorily complete a pre-training review interview to determine student’s suitability for the chosen course.
  • Students are required to have access to a computer and internet in order to complete assessments and read information on the units of competency.

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold a current first aid and CPR certificate and have been recognised as competent through a recognised training program or recognition process against the following units of competency:

  • SISFFIT001 Provide health screening and fitness orientation
  • SISFFIT002 Recognise and apply exercise considerations for specific populations
  • SISFFIT003 Instruct fitness programs
  • SISFFIT004 Incorporate anatomy and physiology principles into fitness programming
  • SISFFIT005 Provide healthy eating information
  • SISFFIT006 Conduct fitness appraisals
  • SISFFIT014 Instruct exercise to older clients
  • SISXCCS001 Provide quality service

Course Mode of Delivery and Duration

Domestic students: The course is provided through face-to-face delivery or distance; however blended learning is an option with block delivery. The course will be delivered and assessed in 6 – 18 months.

International students: Training will be delivered 2.5 days per week for 20 hours over a period of 52 weeks.

If your application is successful, we will send you a Letter of Offer including all the enrolment conditions. When you accept it and return a signed copy, we will secure your place in your chosen course. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer is offered at the time of enrolment. Delivery and Assessment Arrangements

You are able to use a combination of pathways such as self-paced, classroom/workshop/tutorial and on or off the job to complete the qualification. Competency based assessment is used during all assessment activities. Competency is achieved through demonstrating your knowledge and practical application of skills. The “assessment activities” will include but are not limited to such things as written/oral questions, third party feedback where applicable, activities, and scenarios of knowledge and practical application of skills.
